Wia
   1) WIA, an isle, in the parish of Barra, county of Inverness. This is a small isle of the Hebrides, and is uninhabited.
   2) WIA, an isle, in the parish of South Uist, county of Inverness. It lies on the south-east of the island of Benbecula, from which it is separated by a very narrow channel called the Sound of Wia, where is a small and safe harbour. The isle is about two miles in length and one mile and a quarter in breadth, and is much indented on every side; its rocks, like those of nearly all the islands in this quarter, are wholly gneiss.
